Historical circular route in Albersweiler
Information board "The Synagogue"
The first synagogue of the Jewish community, documented in Albersweiler since 1529, is mentioned in 1725, located on Frankweilerer Straße, today known as Hohlstraße. This house of worship, whose construction date is unknown, was described as an "ancient, quite interesting temple building" and was demolished in 1877 to build a Jewish primary school on the site. According to other sources, it was sold to cover the costs for the new construction.
The synagogue was set on fire during the Night of Broken Glass. In 1959, the Raiffeisen cooperative erected a warehouse.
The information board is located at Kirchstraße/corner of Weinstraße
