Im Stift Ossiach wurde 1969 der Carinthische Sommer gegründet, der mittlerweile zu den bedeutendsten österreichischen Musikfestivals zählt. Seit 1972 ist Villach, die Stadt Kärntens mit dem größten mediterranen Charakter, die "zweite Heimat" des Festivals. Die besondere Atmosphäre des Carinthischen Sommers mit seinen vielfältigen Spielstätten (Stiftskirche, Barock- und Rittersaal im Stift Ossiach, Congress Center Villach, die Bergkirche in Tiffen bei Feldkirchen, viele Jahre auch das avantgardistische Steinhaus von Günther Domenig, das gotische Kirchlein in St. Martin/Feldkirchen, die Burgruine Glanegg) zieht jedes Jahr im Juli und August Künstler und Publikum aus aller Welt in den Bann. Die Carinthische Musikakademie bietet mit ihren beiden Veranstaltungszentren - der CMA Ossiach und dem Musikzentrum Knappenberg - die perfekte Infrastruktur für alle, die für ihren Probetag , ihr Symposion, ihr Konzert oder Seminar einen ganz besonderen Veranstaltungsort suchen. Fernab von jeglicher Hektik und inmitten einer wunderschönen Naturkulisse. Genau so, wie man es für´s konzentrierte Arbeiten braucht.

Deshalb sind die Räumlichkeiten der CMA auch bei Veranstaltern anderer Sparten sehr beliebt. Genauso wie auch bei den CMA Besuchern, für die die hier regelmäßig stattfindenden Konzerte und Weiterbildungsveranstaltungen zu den fixen Highlights des Jahres gehören.
