Tourism organization of Herceg Novi
Monastery Savina back through the centuries represents the spiritual center of the city. It is about a building of extraordinary beauty and unforgettable ambiance. The entrance to the monastery courtyard is decorated with imposing pyramidal cypresses and gigantic pines aged more than 200 years. The monastery complex consists of a small and large church of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin, with treasury and the residence hall and the church of St. Sava on the lookout above. In the small church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin were discovered the oldest frescos in these regions and their author is, in all probability, Kotor’s painter Lovro Marinov Dobrićević, one of the foremost masters of the Littoral in the mid-of 15th century.
Wonderful surroundings, unique view of the city, sea, and the Bay of Kotor, still nowadays adorn the vineyards "Castel Savina". The tradition of the vineyards in this area dates back to the 18th century.
