Die Klosterkirche St. Maria und St. Georg zu Thalbürgel gehört zu den bedeutendsten romanischen Sakralbauten Thüringens. Sie ist Zeugin eines einstigen Benediktinerklosters, welches 1133 gegründet wurde. Herausragend sind das Portal und der als Fundament sichtbare Staffelchor. In jedem Jahr lädt die Klosterkirche Thalbürgel alle Musikfreunde zu einem Konzertsommer ein.
