King's Hall Monastery Lorsch

Die Königshalle (oder Torhalle) am Kloster Lorsch wurde um 900 n. Chr. errichtet. Das spätkarolingische Bauwerk diente Forschungen zufolge als Ort für Empfänge, Gerichtsverhandlungen und als Bibliothek. Da das Gebäude wohl immer freistehend war, kann die Funktion als Eingangstor zum Kloster nicht belegt werden. Zusammen mit der mittelalterlichen Klosteranlage gehört die Torhalle zum UNESCO Weltkulturerbe.

Opening times

Das Klostergelände ist ganzjährig und täglich bis zum Einbruch der Dunkelheit frei zugänglich.

Öffnungszeiten Königshalle:

März bis einschl. Oktober, Dienstag bis Sonntag 11 – 17 Uhr (nur mit Führung)
November bis einschl. Februar: nur Samstag und Sonntag
