The monastery was founded in the 16th century and was dedicated to the Dormition of the Mother of God.

The monastery was founded in the 16th century and was dedicated to the Dormition of the Mother of God. Today, while the rest of the rooms have collapsed, the catholicon has been preserved and is a protected monument. The catholicon is a small single-aisled triconch domed temple built during the Byzantine and post-Byzantine period.
