The monastery on the hill Ćokovac is the only male active Benedictine monastery in Croatia. Cosmas and Damian were first mentioned in 1070, and in 1125 the construction of the monastery was completed when the Benedictines sought refuge on the island of Pašman after the Venetian destruction of Biograd. The 6472 has completely preserved its Gothic appearance, and among the works of art from the Middle Ages, the painted wooden crucifix from the beginning of the 15th century stands out. For centuries, this monastery has been a center of Glagolitic and a hotbed of literacy and culture.
