The monastery of Agios Nikolaos is located in the Rouvas Gorge north of Zaros on Crete.
The monastery dates back to the Venetian era of Crete, as evidenced by some 14th-century frescoes in the church. The old church is also the main attraction for visitors to the monastery. The other buildings, such as a temple, several cells and utility rooms, are modern new buildings. The monastery is inhabited by a few nuns and a monk.
