1485 bis 1930 wurden die Gruben des Schneeberger Reviers über ein viele Kilometer langes Wasserverteilungssystem mit Aufschlagwasser (Betriebswasser) für ihre Maschinen versorgt. Den Anfang bildet dieser Hauptkunftgraben, welcher ursprünglich bei der Fundgrube Peter & Paul endete - 1818 aber bis zur Fundgrube Wolfgangmaßen verlängert wurde. Der Weg neben dem Graben diente zur Kontrolle. Die Wasserabgaben aus dem Filzteich wurde über Schieber gereget.
