Edelsteinminen im Steinkaulenberg

Visitors feel like they've stepped into a fairy tale cave at Europe's only accessible gemstone mine. Here, you can admire not only uniquely beautiful agates but also sparkling quartz crystals, amethysts, smoky quartz, and jasper. On the approximately 400 m long circular path through the visitor mine, a knowledgeable guide will share a lot of interesting information about the formation and further processing of the gemstones. Equipped with safety helmets, you can discover many uniquely beautiful sparkling gemstones.
Before mining tunnels were established, gemstone diggers searched for minerals above ground. Visitors today are also warmly invited to join in, equipped with hammers, pickaxes, and shovels. Of course, the found minerals may be kept. Ticket booking in advance is also required for the gemstone camp and the mining fields.
Sturdy footwear, protective gloves, goggles, hammer, chisel, bucket, or other containers should be brought along!

Please note: Walking distance from the visitor parking lot to the entrance of the Steinkaulenberg gemstone mine (approximately 15 minutes on foot).

You can reach the gemstone mine from the train station square with buses of line 803, stop "Edelsteinminen".

You can spend 2 hours on site.
