Výraznou dominantou Počátek je barokně přestavěný kostel sv. Jana Křtitele z konce 13. století. Jeho věž je přístupná a je z ní výhled na město i do okolního kraje.

Vysoká hranolová věž kostela sv. Jana Křtitele v Počátkách na Pelhřimovsku vévodí centru města a jeho návštěvu by si neměl nechat ujít žádný návštěvník.

Do dnešní podoby byla věž po několika požárech vystavena v roce 1824, od roku 2004 je po rozsáhlé rekonstrukci přístupná veřejnosti. Věž dosahuje do výšky 37 metrů.
