Ein sagenhafter Aussichtspunkt ist der Sonnenstein nahe Holungen allemal. Angekommen auf 486 Metern Höhe, eröffnet sich ein einzigartiges Panorama: Bei klarer Sicht kann man vom Harz über das Kyffhäuser- und das Ohmgebirge bis hin zur Goldenen Mark sehen. Malerische Sonnenuntergänge sind hier an vielen Abenden im Jahr garantiert. Seit 2017 steht hier die besondere Attraktion Skywalk. Die Konstruktion aus Stahl und Glas ragt 14 Meter weit über die Klippen hinaus. Der Steg verspricht Nervenkitzel bei atemberaubendem Blick in die Natur. Der Aussichtspunkt ist an mehrere Wanderrouten angebunden. Zum Rasten inmitten der besonderen Flora und Fauna lädt eine segelförmige Überdachung mit Sitzgruppe ein. Verschiedene Stelen informieren über weitere Sehenswürdigkeiten der Region. Von der höchsten Stelle des Plateaus erhebt sich das weithin sichtbare Friedenskreuz. Es wurde zu Ehren des Heimatdichters und Pfarrers Dr. Hermann Iseke errichtet, aus dessen Feder unter anderem das bekannte Eichsfeld-Lied stammt.
