The white lighthouse on a rocky island in the first south-west of Jersey is one of the island's most famous sights.
The lighthouse at La Corbière is considered a landmark of Jersey. The jagged rock massif on which the lighthouse stands can only be reached on foot at low tide. At high tide, the rock turns into an island. The lighthouse was built in 1873 to make navigation safer in the coastal area after many shipwrecks happened here.
The lighthouse itself cannot be visited, but a walk there (at low tide!) is definitely worth it for the view of the coast alone. There is also a restaurant by the car park on the island side.
