Fisterra lighthouse, the westernmost in Europe, is a historical symbol surrounded by legends and shipwrecks like the Monitor Captain, offering stunning views of the Atlantic.

The Fisterra lighthouse, located at the westernmost point of Europe, is steeped in history and legend. Known as "Finis Terrae," it was once believed that the sun extinguished in its waters each night. Designed by engineer Félix Uhagón, this lighthouse rises above the Galician coast with an octagonal tower and a polygonal lantern, standing 143 meters above sea level and projecting its light up to 31 nautical miles. In 1889, a siren, known as "La Vaca de Fisterra," was added to warn sailors on foggy days. Near the lighthouse, the Semáforo, now an inn, is also part of the architectural ensemble. Additionally, the nearby O Centulo rock has witnessed numerous shipwrecks, including the tragic sinking of the Monitor Captain in 1870. This lighthouse not only guides sailors but also stands as a symbol of the mysterious and perilous Atlantic.
