In der „Alten Post“ gibt es seit 2016 eine „junge Bibliothek“. Trotz einiger Verzögerungen und unterschiedlicher Meinungen über Standortfragen konnte dann relativ zügig eine Diskussion über eine Modernisierungsphase eingeleitet werden. Es stehen rund 15.000 Medien in der Sylt Bibliothek zur Verfügung. Besonderheit ist der Bestand für Sehbehinderte und Hörgeschädigte.

Die Bibliothek befindet sich in der Alten Post ganz in der Nähe vom Rathaus. Vom Bahnhofsvorplatz ist sie fußläufig innerhalb von fünf Minuten zu erreichen.
