In the middle of the large water body of southern Lentua lake are the islands of Selkäsaari. A small sandy cove on the westernmost island offers a lean-to and a fireplace near the shore.
The Kainuu Tar Route water hiking trail runs through Lentua. There are several landing and resting places on the lake. The southern part of Lentua is a more open lake, but there are a few islands. The Selkäsaari islands are located in the middle of the lake's open body.
The cove on the western shore of the Selkäsaari is also accessible by a smaller boat, although the shore is not deep.
In south-westerly and westerly winds, the swell can get higher. Please bear this in mind when planning your trip.
There is a dry toilet and a wood shed at the lean-to. Camping is allowed, but good tent sites are scarce.
The lean-to is also open in winter. Then it is accessible by cross-country skiing.
