Tăul Mare este cel mai mare lac din salba de lacuri artificiale amenajate în apropiere de Roșia Montană pentru a deservi industria minieră din zonă. Astăzi, e folosit în scop de agrement.

În împrejurimile localității se găsesc cel puțin 5 astfel de lacuri de dimensiuni considerabile, majoritatea oferind priveliști memorabile. Ele au fost amenajate lângă instalațiile de spălare a minereului feros, pentru a alimenta cu apă și a spori debitul pâraielor. Tăul Mare poate fi văzut fie într-o plimbare ușoară, pornind din centrul localității, fie parcurgând tot traseul de drumeție Circuitul Tăurilor.
