This lake was created on the surface burrow of the former iron ore mine. It is about 500 metres long, 300 m wide and 100 m deep.
Jezero okružuju brda Kota na sjevernoj strani sa visinom od 1100 m i brdo Veokovac na južnoj strani sa visinom od 1150 m nadmorske visine.
Iz izvještaja općinskog štaba civilne zaštite Vareš br.1258/96 površina jezera na PK Smreka sa danom 12.11.1996. iznosi 125.000 m2 sa najvećom dužinom od 610 m, širinom od 320 m i dubinom od 107,05 m. Najniža kota jezera iznosi 675.5 m a najviša 782.1 m nadmorske visine. Najveća dubina jezera trenutačno iznosi cca 110 m.
Jezero koriste ribolovci, a u januaru i februaru jezero je zaleđeno sa debljinom leda koji u prosjeku iznosi 40 cm.
Directions
Lokalitet jezera na kopu bivšeg rudnika željezne rude Smreka leži jugozapadno od Vareša na udaljenosti od cca 1km i povezan je putem za glavnu cestu Vareš Majdan – Vareš. Od Sarajeva, ovo jezero je udaljeno 50 km, a od Zenice 100 km i povezano je s oba ova grada putnim komunikacijama. Sam prilaz jezeru je moguć sa lokalnog puta.
