Splendid artificial lake in the province of L'Aquila
Lake Barrea is located in the province of L'Aquila and within the territory of the National Park of Abruzzo, Lazio and Molise, in the Alto Sangro area. It is overlooked by the towns of Barrea, Villetta Barrea and Civitella Alfedena, which are certainly worth a visit.
.The lake is ideal for a day trip into nature. It is possible to walk or cycle around the lake amidst oaks, willows and black pines or hike through the Fondillo Valley. Families with children can opt for a visit to the La Camosciara Nature Reserve to try and spot some chamois, or take a walk to the Cascata delle Ninfa waterfall.
.The lake area is home to many water birds, so it also attracts birdwatchers.
