Lake Orfu is a natural basin whose crystal-clear waters vary from deep blue to emerald green, creating a landscape of extraordinary beauty.
Lake Orfu is located in the Gad hamlet of Oulx, at an elevation of about 1,060 meters.
There is a small kiosk on the lake offering drinks and packaged snacks, with a small beach and solarium. Sunbeds , deck chairs, pedal boats, and rowboats can be rented . Also available are a playground, beach volleyball court, barbecue and picnic tables in the shade of the trees, making it an ideal place to spend a relaxing day with friends or family. Anglers can purchase daily permits on site, valid from the first Sunday in June to the first Sunday in October.
The lake's origins are quite curious: it was created during construction work on the A32 Turin-Bardonecchia highway, when, during excavations near an aquifer, a small puddle formed that, over time, became a beautiful lake.
Directions
The lake is easily reached by car via a dirt road, with access a few meters to the left of the Oulx East highway exit. Alternatively, you can follow the signs from the center of the Gad hamlet. The lake can also be reached on foot, as it is near the crossing of the Trail of the Franks and is surrounded by a MTB bike path.
