The Hufeisensee is a true leisure paradise. You can go fishing, stand-up paddling and even diving here and of course hiking, jogging, skating and cycling.

The Hufeisensee owes its name to its shape, as a leftover mining pit. After the lignite was initially mined, gravel was mined here until the 1960s. Today, the Hufeisensee is a great local recreation area. The circular path around the lake is paved throughout, partly even asphalted, and is a popular jogging route at 6.2 kilometres long. Of course, you can also take a leisurely stroll around the lake and find a cosy spot to read or dream. You can even skate on the asphalt promenade. With a standup paddleboard you can paddle across the lake, go water skiing or try rowing and sailing. You can even dive to a depth of 26 meters. Unfortunately, swimming is not allowed in the lake.

From the main train station, take the tram to the Freiimfelder Straße stop. From there you walk about 30 minutes to the lake.
