Im Steinbruch wurde früher Sandstein geschlagen, aus dem zahlreiche historische Häuser in der Stadt errichtet wurden.

Der Steinbruch ist mittlerweile mit Wasser gefüllt und es hat sich eine artenreiche Flora und Fauna entwickelt.
