Der Helenesee, der auch als kleine Ostsee bekannt ist, liegt ca. 8 km von Frankfurt an der Oder entfernt.

Mit seinem kilometerlangen feinen Sandstrand ist der See ein beliebtes Naherholungsgebiet im Oder-Spree-Gebiet. Am Helenesee gibt es ein breites Angebot an Freizeitmöglichkeiten wie beispielsweise eine Tauch- und Surfschule sowie Möglichkeiten zum Tischtennis, Tennis, Fußball und Volleyball spielen. Außerdem gibt es einen Bootsverleih, einen Campingplatz und einen Wanderweg direkt um den See. Die Entstehung des beliebten Badesees ist auf ein Kohlebergwerk zurückzuführen.
