Der Gartower See ist ein knapp 60 ha großer See in Gartow. Hier kann man sich bei heißem Wetter abkühlen, segeln, surfen, rudern, paddeln (auch Standup-Paddling), angeln und schwimmen.

Der Gartower See, der sich am nördlichen Rand Gartows ausdehnt, ist der Mittelpunkt bunten Treibens. Schwimmer, Segler, Surfer, Paddler und Angler treffen sich hier ebenso wie Standup-Paddler und Tretbootfahrer. Mit seinen Stränden am Nord- sowie Südufer lädt er zum Sonnenbaden ein. Auch Pferde und Hunde finden hier ihren eigenen Strandbereich. Rund um den See führt ein ca. 5 km langer Rundwander- bzw. -radweg. In den kälteren Monaten lassen sich von hier viele Vogelarten beobachten. Am Westufer gibt es auch eine kleine Beobachtungsplattform.

Es gibt eine Slipanlage für Boote aller Art (Motorboote sind nicht gestattet!) sowie Grillplätze, zum Teil überdacht, und einen Abenteuerspielplatz für Kinder. Ein gastronomisches Angebot ist ebenfalls vorhanden, genauso wie ein Tret- und Elektrobootverleih.

Hier trainiert auch der Drachenboot- und Kanuverein "Seeadler Elbtalaue-Wendland".
