Emerald Pools

In the heart of the Val Tramontina, about 2 km from Tramonti di Sopra and on the edge of the Friulian Dolomites Natural Park, the Pozze Smeraldine are natural pools formed by the waters of the Meduna stream. Over thousands of years, the water has shaped the rocks, creating basins, potholes, and small pools with distinctive emerald-green hues, nestled in a wild landscape of forests, gravel, and rocky cliffs.

The pools can be reached from Tramonti di Sopra via an easy walk along a forest trail; a longer route, on the other hand, takes you along part of the Strada da lis Fornas, passing through woods and ancient rural hamlets to Ponte Rusubet, a scenic viewpoint overlooking the Rio della Ira waterfall and the waters of the Meduna. An ideal place to immerse yourself in nature and discover one of the most fascinating river environments in the Friulian Dolomites.
