Smallest lake of the local recreation area Langwieder Seenplatte (nudist lake).

The Birkensee is located in the rear area of the three lakes of the Langwieder Seenplatte and is very popular with nudists. The lake was created in the 1930s during construction work on a bypass and was long considered an insider tip and wild nature reserve. Biotope areas were created to preserve the former charm. Due to the shallow water depth (approx. 6 m) the lake warms up quite quickly in summer.

Public transport

The S-Bahn stop Lochhausen is located at a distance of about 3 km.

Bathing bus: from June to the beginning of September there is a bus from the S-Bahn station Lochhausen to the lake every 20 minutes. Prices: Children up to 6 years: free; children from 6-14 years: 0,50 € one way; adults: 1,50 € one way.

From the A8 Stuttgart-Munich: directly at the exit München Langwied
Via the A9 Nuremberg-Munich to the motorway intersection München Nord on the A99 towards Stuttgart. Dreieck München-Allach: direction Lochhausen. End of motorway: at the traffic lights back onto the A8 motorway towards Stuttgart. Take exit München-Langwied
From the A8 Salzburg-Munich at the motorway junction München Brunnthal onto the A99 in the direction of the A8 Stuttgart/Augsburg
