Nutcracker Museum & Technical Museum "Old Chair Factory"
Exhibits from over 30 countries and specialist store for Erzgebirge wood art
Europe's first nutcracker museum in Neuhausen was founded in 1994 by the Löschner family. There are currently 4400 different nutcrackers from 30 countries on display. The oldest pieces date back to the 17th century. Attractions: World's largest functioning wooden nutcracker at 10.10 m, smallest functioning nutcracker at 4.9 mm and 9 mm, world's largest music box nutcracker suite (plays every hour on the hour from 10.00 to 17.00). The museum includes a specialist store for original Erzgebirge folk art articles and a museum store, which sells souvenirs as well as drinks and snacks.
The museum complex is complemented by the "Old Chair Factory" technical museum and a motorcycle exhibition (a loan of around 100 two-wheelers from GDR production). A museum of superlatives!
