Die Böhmerwaldschule soll es Kindern, Jugendlichen und Erwachsenen aus der Region und darüber hinaus gleichermaßen ermöglichen, über all ihre Sinne (Hören, Sehen, Riechen, Fühlen, Schmecken etc.) eine Beziehung zum Wald und zur Natur aufzubauen (Wald hautnah erleben).

Es soll hier u.a. Einblick in die Arbeit von Förstern, Forstarbeitern und Waldbauern mit ihren Chancen und Risken ermöglicht werden und die volkswirtschaftliche Bedeutung der Forst- und Holzwirtschaft thematisiert werden.
