Maison Rurale de l'Outre-Forêt

The Museum is located in an early 18th century farm, composed of the farmhouse and its numerous outbuildings. You will explore country life in Northern Alsace in the dwelling. An educational vegetable and herb garden, a workshop where clay wattling is prepared, a rabbit hutch and a hen roost are witnesses of the daily activities of the farmer and of his family. Permanent exhibitions show other activities connected with rural life, such as bee-keeping or the transformation of milk. The visit continues through the smithy, the wheelwright's workshop and the reconstitution of a village classroom. Activities are organized throughout the year and for religious holidays.
