Liečivé pramene sú vyhlásené za liečivé termálne minerálne vody podľa zákona č. 538/2005 o prírodných liečivých vodách, prírodných liečebných kúpeľoch, kúpeľných miestach a prírodných minerálnych vodách.
Termálna liečivá minerálna voda má dokázateľne širokospektrálne liečivé účinky (na ochorenia pohybového ústrojenstva, neurologické, urologické, tráviaceho ústrojenstva, gynekologické, onkologické ochorenia, choroby z povolania) vďaka vysokému obsahu minerálnych látok (v 1 litri na úrovni až 1524 mg/l). Za liečivú vodu sa považuje minerálna voda s obsahom celkovo rozpustených tuhých látok presahujúcich množstvo 1 000 mg/l.
