Wedderveer is a hamlet between Wedde and Blijham. The name comes from the ferry that used to cross the Westerwoldse Aa. There is a small marina in Wedderveer. Across from the marina is the Wedderbergen recreation area, which consists of of windblown dunes that were formed in the Middle Ages. This area is very suitable for canoeing and fishing, and is also home to the Weddermarke polder mill from 1898. In Wedderveer itself, on the road from Wedde to Blijham, de Spinnekop sawmill is located. This mill was built in 1938 and is the last professional mill built in the province of Groningen. Close by there used to be polder mill De Nijverheidspolder from 1880, but this mill has been partly demolished, and the hullconverted into a house. The village has a war memorial for the resistance fighters in World War II, created by sculptor Vladimir de Vries.
