The only remaining city gate was built in 1315 after the granting of city rights by King Ludwig the Bavarian. The lower part with the high pointed arch facade, where the drawbridge ran, is presumably still original, while the inner gate and the windows above date from the renovation in 1847. At the upper edge, small late-Gothic corner turrets protrude on three sides, although they are not preserved in their full height. The present slate-covered eight-sided pyramid was probably only added after 1689. On the left side of the tower, a staircase leads to the battlement. The square-shaped lower gate made of rubble stone masonry, combined with the half-timbered houses, contributes to the impression of the medieval townscape.
