The „Golden Tower“ is part of a former fortification – and is now home to the Seville Maritime Museum.
The tower was built around 1220 and served to defend Seville, at that time the most important port city in Andalusia. Unfortunately, it is no longer possible to find out where the „golden“ tower got its name; it was probably decorated with gold in the past, although this is no longer visible today.
The tower is definitely worth a visit, because inside is the charming little Museo Naval de Sevilla, which exhibits old ship instruments and maps, among other things.
A real highlight is also the fantastic view of the city of Seville and the Guadalquivir River from the tower!
