Artiste peintre -sculpteur espagnol (1909-1991) Une statue présente aux entrée Nord et Sud de la station, une statue sur le front de mer et une devant le jardin d'enfants du centre ville.

L'artiste Manuel Perez Valiente, plus connu sous le nom de Manolo Valiente, était un réfugié espagnol lors de "La Retirada". En 1936, il arrive au camp d'Argelès-sur-Mer, et à la fin de la guerre, il s'établit à Banyuls-sur-Mer, où il développe son œuvre et finira ses jours en 1991. Aujourd'hui, deux statues de l'artiste sont visibles à Banyuls : l'une sur la Place Bassères, et l'autre devant le jardin d'enfants du front de mer.
