l Monastero di Santa Maria in Valle e il Tempietto Longobardo sono stati dichiarati nel 2011 Patrimonio dell’Umanità nell’ambito del sito seriale “ Italia Longobardorum. I luoghi del poter (568-774)”.

Il Sito comprende i luoghi italiani che hanno conservato le più rilevanti testimonianze monumentali ed artistiche del periodo e che esprimono l'universalità della cultura longobarda al suo apice.

I Longobardi, popolo di origine germanica proveniente dall'Europa settentrionale, dopo aver disceso il continente occuparono la penisola tra il 568 e il 774, creando un regno barbarico che si sviluppò dal Friuli e dalle Alpi sino a Benevento e alla Puglia...
