Nachdem sie zunächst ein Haus auf dem Gänsberg gekauft und verschiedene weitere Gebäude angemietet hatten, errichteten sie an der Oberen Hauptstraße einen eindrucksvollen dreigeschossigen Bau als Unterkunft für ihr Archiv und ihre Kanzlei. Mit seiner repräsentativen Fassade, die ein kraftvoller Barockgiebel krönt, überragt er die benachbarten Bürgerhäuser. Im durchgängig eingewölbten Erdgeschoss lagen die feuersicheren Archivräume, während im ersten Obergeschoss Kanzleiräume, im dritten Obergeschoss mit seinen hochbarocken Stuckdecken Repräsentations- und Versammlungsräume untergebracht waren. Derzeit ist dort eine Außenstelle des Landratsamtes untergebracht.
