Nicht zuletzt auf Grund ihres Patroziniums gilt diese als Ehinger Urkirche. Später, der genaue Zeitpunkt und die Umstände sind unklar, musste sie ihre Stellung als Pfarrkirche an die Blasiuskirche abtreten. Zu Anfang des 16. Jahrhunderts wurde die Kapelle umgebaut. Nachdem sie 1749 dem Stadtbrand zum Opfer gefallen war, konnte sie dank mehrerer Stiftungen unter der Leitung des Baumeisters Johann Wiedemann (1692-1775) wieder aufgebaut werden. Später diente die Krypta als Beinhaus. Im Zuge des Josephinismus wurde die Kapelle dann 1787 geschlossen. Nach Verkauf in private Hände erfolgte 1818 ihr Abbruch.
