It has been the site of a pilgrimage dedicated to Our Lady of the Seven Sorrows since the 15th century. Monumental Way of the Cross and very beautiful view of the plain of Alsace. Signposts from the village centre.
The sanctuary's origins date back at least to the 16th century. A document dated 1505 already mentions the presence of a caretaker, who enjoyed privileges granted to his predecessors.
The convent, now occupied by the Congregation of the Redemptorists foundedby Alphonsus de Liguori, is also an important pilgrimage site dedicated to Our Lady of the Seven Sorrows. These pilgrimages were interrupted only during periods of war or occupation, before quickly resuming, particularly on the feast of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary.
The sanctuary has been listed as a historic monument since 1965.
