It is located at the mouth of the Sauer River in the Rhine. It is an exceptional structure in Europe as it is a flap valve that rests in the water outside flood periods. When it is raised vertically, it acts as a dike during the high-water season. The structure is 60 m long and 7 m high and its movement is possible thanks to hydraulic jacks with a force of 350 tons each.
