Auf dem Historischen Wanderweg in Freiamt können Sie Geschichte erwandern und sich in herrlicher Natur mit dieser vertraut machen. Dies ist der Standort Läger.
Im Mittelalter hat der Erzbergbau einen wichtigen Beitrag zur Erschließung des Schwarzwaldes geleistet. Das Revier Freiamt-Sexau erstreckt sich vom Niedertal entlang des Brettenbachs mit dem Verlauf der Schwarzwaldrandverwerfung bis nach Sexau zur Caroliniengrube im Eberbächle. Dazwischen liegen drei Hauptvererzungen. Der Silberloch-, der Segen-Gottes- und der Carolinen-Gangzug im Eberbächle. Unterhalb der Burgruine im Vorhof befand sich ab ca. 1770 für Bergleute die „Grubenwirtschaft“, mit Ende des Bergbaus aufgegeben wurde.
