Hasenreuth wurde im Jahre 1750 erstmals urkundlich erwähnt und gehörte zum Rittergut Sachsgrün.

Die Einwohner der 3 ehem. landwirtschaftlichen Anwesen wurden 1952 zwangsausgesiedelt und ihre Häuser abgerissen.

Entlang des Wanderweges der Schicksalsorte (WSO) wurde an dieser Stelle eine Erinnerungstafel angebracht. Hasenreuth liegt in einem Naturschutzgebiet und gehört zum Grünen Band Deutschland.
