Veselý Kopec, a picturesque settlement with authentic historical buildings, gives us a glimpse into the life of 19th and 20th century peasants, their work, joys and daily life.
The history of Veselý Kopec dates back to the first half of the 16th century, when small peasants settled here looking for a way of making a living in the wooded area and the surrounding meadows. Their living conditions were extremely demanding, which is evident when you visit the cottage of the landless man, located in the back of the open-air museum. This small and modest structure with its narrow windows and earth trampled dirt provides a glimpse into their humble lives.Today, the village of Veselý Kopec is made up of nearly thirty loosely scattered buildings that bear witness to the life, work and entertainment of small peasants in the 19th and 20th centuries. Among these buildings we can find a shepherd's hut, a sheepfold, an exchange, a bell tower from Jeníkov, a farmhouse from Lezník, a shed with a well, a fruit dryer from Střítež, a water-oil mill from Damascus and many others.
