En tradition om stenen säger att Forbönderna hade i regel byxor av skinn. Färska skinn hade en gulaktig nyans, därav namnet Gulbein. Gulbeins kanna: Det innebar att Gulbenet nykomlingen i laget skulle bjuda på traktering till övriga i gruppen.
