The site of a castle in the High Middle Ages
“Gegenpoint” is one of the largest and most complex castle sites in the district: Deep ditches, sections of ramparts, and some pits can still be seen at the site. In a document of 857, the site is already mentioned as “Kekinpiunt”. In 1102, the Lords of Gegenpoint are mentioned by name for the first time. The existence of a castle is confirmed between 1147 and 1340. Its decline began with the founding of Fürstenfeld Monastery in 1263. By the end of the 14th century, the male line had died out - the castle became functionless. A memorial stone and an information board indicate this.
