Die Flößerei ist ein uraltes Gewerbe, das über 600 Jahre – bis Ende des 19. Jahrhunderts – das Leben und Schicksal vieler Menschen bestimmte. Damals haben mutige Männer mit viel Kraft und Geschick die Schwarzwaldtannen zu bis zu 700 m langen Flößen zusammengebunden und diese die Kinzig hinunter bis an den Rhein gesteuert. Die Stadt Wolfach hat diesen jungen und mutigen Männern ein Denkmal gesetzt – mit einem lehrreichen Flößerpark.

Im Flößerpark Wolfach, der am Zusammenfluss von Wolf und Kinzig liegt, geben Informationstafeln Einblick in die Geschichte und Hintergründe der Flößerei. Ein kleines Schaufloß vermittelt zudem die Technik des Floßbaus. Und alle zwei Jahre, wenn die Wolfacher Kinzigflößer – ein Verein zur Bewahrung des alten Handwerks – ihr Flößerfest feiern, fährt sogar ein echtes Floß auf der Kinzig vorbei. Neben dem Park lädt das Flößercafè zur Einkehr und zum Verweilen ein.

Der Flößerpark ist frei zugänglich und rund um die Uhr geöffnet.
