Fifteenth-century villa of the aristocratic Venetian family Emo, damaged during the Second World War.
After about 40 years of Visconti rule, in the early 1400s, the municipality of Vestenanova came under the power of the Republic of Venice and became a fief of the Emo family, one of the most important Venetian families. The family then acquired the jurisdiction of the municipality, and thus the authority to administer the territory and impose taxes on the population.
The ownership of the complex then passed to the Pieropan family (a name still associated with it today).
Corte Emo is situated in a dominant position over the Alpone valley, built at an altitude of 500 meters, which is quite rare in the landscape of villas, demonstrating the family's power.
The structure of the complex is an enclosed courtyard, with a single access door that ensured protection. The main house faces south, the balcony overlooks the valley, and the attached buildings, where staff lived, formed two wings that enclosed the rectangular space of the courtyard. The most notable architectural feature is in the slender body from which the entrance to the courtyard opens, extending southward with almost fortress-like shapes.
The main house was severely damaged during World War II, and almost all historical testimonies were lost, including the private chapel, which contained wooden statues and frescoes. What remains of the original includes the oven, the copper "boiler" for water heating, the columns that supported the courtyard's surrounding porch, the entrance door, and the walls along the provincial road.
In 1921, the Pieropan family sold "La Corte" to three local residents, of whom the heirs remain today. The modifications to the building structures hardly allow one to recognize the original layout of the Villa, but with recent restoration, it has been recovered and now hosts a farm and an agritourism.
