The hamlet of Chezal at an altitude of 1859 m. is one of the 19 hamlets that make up the mountain municipality of Pragelato, the last one going up along the SR del Sestriere.
Chezal is a small hamlet in the upper Chisone Valley. In all there are about ten houses, a chapel dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Mary and a community bakery. Just beyond the hamlet is an alpine pasture where herdsmen go up in the summer to tend the cows and make butter and cheese. The old huts have been gradually renovated. In all, there are about 30 lodgings used mainly as second homes, but there is no shortage of permanent residents who live in the hamlet year-round. There are a few fountains, one made of stone, others of wood, carved out of larch logs. On the mule track coming from Duc, which, before the carriage road was built in the 1930s, had been the main access road to the hamlet, there is still the old cross at the beginning of the village. A monument was recently erected in memory of mountaineers Cala and Patrick who tragically died under an avalanche in February 2021. The Sherpa trail to the summit of "Pitre 'd l'Aigle" starts from here.
