Das in seiner Grundanlage fast vollständig erhaltene Rundlingsdorf wurde sorgsam restauriert. Der gesamte Ort steht heute unter Denkmalschutz und zieht besondere Aufmerksamkeit auf sich.
Erstmalig fand der Ort „Bedelin“ im Jahre 1325 Erwähnung. Er wurde von Sorben bewohnt und benannt. Die Eindeutschung des Namens erfolgte allmählich.
Um 1900 wies Beedeln eine Gesamtfläche von 210 Hektar auf. Die Bewohner betreiben überwiegend Landwirtschaft. 1993 wurde Beedeln als Ortsteil von Kolkau nach Seelitz eingemeindet.
In Beedeln befindet sich die älteste Scheune Sachsens, die nachweislich aus dem Jahre 1557 stammt. Sie besteht aus einer Tenne und einer Banse auf beiden Seiten. An die östliche Banse schließt sich ein Wagenschuppen an.
