The existence of this village of farmers and fishermen, and then above all of boatmen, is attested as early as the end of the 9th century. Thanks to its flora and fauna, the Offendorf forest is one of the most beautiful relics of the Rhine alluvial forest. At the heart of the massif, around the "Rossmoerder" islet, lies Bas-Rhin's first nature reserve.
