Der einstige Ort der Verbannung von Rebellen führte zum Namen "Tal der Gesetzlosen".
Den kaum besiedelten Wimitzgraben nördlich von St. Veit/Glan nannte man im Mittelalter „Tal der Gesetzlosen“. Rebellen aus Wien wurden, wenn sie nicht gleich geköpft werden sollten, in die unwirtliche Gegend verbannt. Die wenigen Einheimischen (heute sind es noch weniger, viele verlassene Bauernhöfe säumen den Weg) pflegten dieses Image bis in das vergangene Jahrhundert. Noch 1977 schafften sie es, einem Reporter des deutschen Magazins „Stern“ nach ein paar Schnapserln einzureden, dass sich die Gendarmerie (heute Polizei) nicht in den Graben traut, weil es dort vor Schwarzfischern und Wilderern nur so wimmelt.
